Description

This poster is both a data artifact and a cultural statement. It charts Ethereum’s public goods funding ecosystem from 2018–2025 — visualizing how platforms, mechanisms, and communities have deployed more than $758M toward open-source infrastructure, collective intelligence, and capture-resistant public goods.

The top visualization maps each “swimlane” of the ecosystem, scaled logarithmically to represent activity and experimentation across Gitcoin Grants, Optimism Retro Funding, Protocol Guild, Octant, MolochDAO, Arbitrum, GloDollar, DAO Drops, Drips, and more.

Below, the poster expands into a manifesto: Pluralism is Punk. It frames Ethereum not as a monolithic chain, but as a modular organism — secured by client diversity, shaped by open coordination, and sustained by plural funding systems. Punk here is defined as refusal, re-creation, and repair. Building is cast as resistance itself.

From client diversity to protocol governance to novel funding mechanisms, the poster argues that pluralism is the beating heart of Ethereum’s resilience — and the reason innovation remains permissionless and antifragile.

This is an archival-quality print designed to preserve the story of Ethereum’s public goods movement as it evolves — documenting the builders, mechanisms, and values shaping open ecosystems for the next decade and beyond.
